Tuesday: The Downtown Plan goes before the City Council

Where? City Council Chambers – 333 West Ocean Blvd.

When? Tuesday, January 10th at 6PM.

How to help? Attend. Speak to your love of downtown and the desire to see it progress.

So many of us have participated in round-table discussions over the years to help draft the Downtown Plan. The plan will finally go before the City Council on January 10 @ 6PM and we really need you to turn out to support the plan.

We are hoping to have 30 NPNA residents make it to show their support. Additionally, we’re encouraging our passionate members to speak at this meeting.

The opposition from outside-interests have been loud, but we have the solidarity of the 6 Downtown Neighborhood Organizations. This is the final push!

Please wear white to show your support.

We will see you there with our neighbors.

State of The Downtown

Planting Seeds of Environmental Change
with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

Please join the Downtown Long Beach business community at the 5th Annual State of the Downtown luncheon on November 21, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. at the Westin Hotel in the East Village Arts District.

The annual luncheon event is hosted by the DLBA to present a comprehensive look at year-to-year changes in the redevelopment and revitalization of Downtown Long Beach and to focus on significant issues facing businesses, residents and visitors. Acclaimed author, attorney and lifelong environmental activist, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has been engaged to deliver the keynote address at the annual event.

Capitalizing on Kennedy’s renown passion for the environment, this year’s theme, Planting Seeds of Environmental Change, will address the importance of environmental consciousness as we continue the planning and development of our urban center.  Issues such as water conservation, ‘green’ building practices, natural energy resources and recycling programs will be among the topics discussed.  Of particular focus will be the pollution of our beaches, the contamination of the Los Angeles River and the opportunities we have as a community to overcome these challenges.
